The distinguishing feature of Face is its simplicity and robustness. Marques has successfully reconciled cylindrical lines with a flat face, giving the faucet a personal touch and unique communication with the user. The faucet, available in brass with a chrome finish or stainless steel, is a testament to Marques' ability to transform a simple line into a design object with a strong personality.
The faucet's handle, which controls the flow and temperature, is cleverly concealed in the vertical shape. The straight frontal part acts as the spout for the water to flow, resulting in an extremely pure and soft object when requested. This intuitive and functional design is a result of Marques' careful assessment of faucet trends and production technology.
Producing Face was not without its challenges. The first hurdle was the deconstruction of a typical faucet, which is traditionally presented with a multi-volume shape due to the traditional method of manufacturing. The concept of a faceted faucet combining round and right forms was a significant challenge that Marques successfully overcame.
The design process for Face began in May 2015 in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, and concluded in November of the same year. The first prototype was presented in January 2016. The project was a collaborative effort, with assistance from the Barros & Moreira Design Department.
Face's award-winning design is a testament to Marques' innovative approach to design. The Silver A' Design Award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs are admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, and they introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
